ST. JOHNSBURY - One local artist has been using nature's beauty to create beauty of his own.
Jeffrey Coelho's pottery is even more unique than others.
Potter Jeffrey Coelho uses "hitchcock" clay for his projects. the clay consists of deposits from the Passumpsic River that are around 10,000 years old. He believes that it is special to use part of the land and transform it into something beautiful.
Coelho even makes his own tools out of things he already has, things that most people wouldn't think twice about.
When he's done using his potter's wheel to shape and create the piece, he heads over to fire up his kiln. Coelho's kiln has the names of people who he cares about etched on the sides.
When he's finished, Coelho sells some of his pottery at The Artful Eye in Saint Johnsbury, he also teaches pottery classes for all ages at Pot Heads Pottery Studio at The Artful Eye.
