Brides Put Local First

bridalshowSAINT JOHNSBURY - The Comfort Inn in St. Johnsbury hosted this year's bridal show for the first time in 10 to 12 years.

The show featured more than 20 vendors from the Northeast Kingdom.

Carolyn Cross, who owns The Sewing Studio in Saint Johnsbury, along with many other volunteers took on the task of getting everone including the brides-to-be organized for that special day "the hotel is a beautiful venue and they opened it up to us so I thought why not and there hasn't been a bridal show in the area for ten or twelve years."

Bridal shows are for women who will be married in 1, 2 or 3 years Cross says and shows the brides the options of shopping local "there really great local vendors are in the area the brides will walk away with business cards and information and they will know who to contact when they at day is arriving or approaching."

50 brides pre-registered for the event including, Jordan Wheeler, who shared how she met her husband-to-be "we started talking online when he was based in Japan before he came home and moved to North Carolina. The first, about year of our relationship was long distant from Japan, North Carolina, and I also studied abroad in Ireland for a semester."

Wheeler, as well as many others were looking for bridal wear for the first time and didn't expect amount of brides that showed up "just find a bigger space they needed more space for everyone to walk around, because I don't think they anticipated it to be this busy."

The small space held 28 vendors and 50 plus brides after everyone finished their signups. The day ended with a bouquet toss and cake cutting with most brides leaving happy and informed on how their day would look. Cross is hoping next year they will have a bigger space to entertain everyone.
