Long Time Board Member Retires

WELLS RIVER- Long time Blue Mountain Union School Board member Bruce Stevens has decided to retire afrer 28 years. During the annual budget meeting the superintendent and other board members suprised Stevens with gifts and congradulations. Among the gifts were some small piece of wood to burn, his favorite paint and a huge framed picture of an airal view of the school, signed by the majority of staff members.

Stevens explained why he decided to retire and what set him on the path to a 28 year stint on the board, "Well sometimes it's good to give someone else a chance. One of my goals was to stay on the board and contribute as much as I could, until the school was paid off, which we just did. We had some loans for some capital improvement, that we paid off and the morgage that was 20 years was just paid off. The pay isn't great, but that's not why we do it, we do it for the kids."

Kristan Murray was voted in on Town Meeting Day as Stevens successor. When asked what's next for him he replied he would put more focus into his piano restoration business, but will certaintly stay connected to the staff and students at the school.
