Tuning That Summer Tune

carcareNORTHEAST KINGDOM- Temperatures are expected to reach close to 80 degrees this week, which means Summer is fast approaching. As a result, it's important to make sure your car is well maintained before taking summer vacations.

 According to AAA, higher temperatures can take a toll on cars just as much colder temperatures. Below are some tips to help you prepare your car for you Summer trips.

 

  • Make sure your battery is properly mounted and in place.
  • Clean battery clamps to make sure their is no erosion or or build-up
  • Check batteries that are more than three years old to see how much life they have left
  • Replace coolants that are contaminated
  • Make sure tires are properly inflated as underinflated
  • Drivers should check motor oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, and brake fluid.

Bob Betrand of Metric Wrench in St. Johnsbury spent time at the Lyndon Baptist Church in Lyndonville on Saturday to inform drivers what some small tips to improve their car for the winter.

"It's a good idea to take care of your car," said Betrand. "[It] gives you better performance, better fuel economy, and your safer so it's a real good idea to have preventable maintenece done on it."

Despite the warm tempatures the offical start to summer is June 21st.
